Magazine Bowls All Trimester
Whenever there is a substitute teacher in the art room, the students have been working on Magazine Bowls. They took pages from magazines and folded them into long strips and glued down the edge. They then connected the strips end to end to make one LOOONG strip. The students started coiling up the strip by wrapping it around a pencil. As their coil began to get bigger, they removed the pencil. Each student was required to have at least 50 magazine pages in their bowl. After all the strips had been used, they taped down the edge. Very gently they had to press down the center of their bowl, without popping it all the way out! Below there is some pictures of several completed styles of bowls. After the students found the style they liked, they used a paintbrush to apply Art Paste to harden the bowls into a permanent shape.
